Richard J. Daley served as mayor of the City of Chicago for over 25 years and was a big fan of 16” softball. Mayor Daley felt 16” softball was a major part of the makeup of this great city and it was important to promote the game throughout the city. This award is given in his honor to individuals who have demonstrated passion and love for the game over the years as a sponsor, business owner, politician, or leaders in their community. Without loyal sponsors, the game of 16” softball wouldn’t be what it is today!
