16-inch softball has always been popular because it is a game that can be played anywhere. Only requiring a ball and a bat, softball is enjoyed by professional players, adults, and children in various communities. 16-inch has developed a large following in underdeveloped countries, especially South America. Neighborhood children began playing the game after travelers brought the rules and techniques to South America. Today, national softball tournaments are being played in Costa Rica and Cuba, with hopes for more tournaments to develop in other countries.
