Ironmen

The Ironman Softball Team was formed in 1976 by Jack Kelly right out of Oak Lawn High School. Additional friends were from the southwest suburbs. They have been together over 4 decades – to the present day. The Ironmen started with a core and have attracted major softball players and Hall of Famers on their team. The Ironmen began play in the Oak Lawn Softball League and won multiple championships. They then joined the Alsip Softball League also winning multiple championships.Looking for major competition, the Ironmen joined the Mt. Greenwood Softball and Calumet Park Softball Leagues. Continuing their winning ways also winning championships in both leagues. The Ironmen also played in many tournaments, mostly on the southside (Blue Island, Oak Lawn, Alsip, Chicago and many more) winning some and finishing mostly in the top ten. The Ironmen also played in March of Dimes Tournaments throughout the years winning more championships. To this day, the team is still playing and winning in the Orland Hills Softball League. They are thankful for their sponsors over the years: Anjo’s Motor Service Inc., Fatties’ Pub, Steve Larocco, Murphy’s Law and Rich Bryles.
