Lords

The Lords Softball Team were a group of neighborhood ball players that grew and became a dominate team in the western suburbs in the 1970’s to the 1990’s.The Lords played mostly in the leagues from Melrose Park, Broadview, Bellwood, Franklin Park, Westchester, Mount Prospect, Downers Grove, Westmont, Woodridge, and Lisle. The Lords won league championships 6 times in Broadview compiling a 22-0 record in 1983. They compiled league championships 4 times in Westchester, 3 times in Bellwood, 2 times in Downers Grove, Westmont and Franklin Park, and 1 each in Mount Prospect, Melrose Park, Lisle and Woodridge. They were champions in 1988 and 1991 in the famous Trevor, Wisconsin Annual Tournament. The Lords also won the prestigious Suburban Life Tournament in 1991. They captured the 1983 Lisle Metro and eventually beat the defending 1982 ASA Major National Champion Spats team at Hart Stadium in Blue Island, losing only to the Whips. They evolved from a great neighborhood league team to place 4th in the 1983 ASA Major National Tournament and went on to place 5’th in the 1984 and 1985 ASA Major Nationals. They still play in over 50 events and have had Hall of Famers on their roster.
