Gamblers

They started in 1981 in an 18 and under league at Clyde and would play for 15 years. They entered a 16-inch tournament in Joliet, but it turned out that it was an ASA 12-inch State Tournament. They had to borrow the gloves and bats from the other team. They lost their first game and went on to win 7 in a row in one day to become state champs and go to Atlanta to play in Nationals where we came in 8th. They started winning local leagues at Clyde and Hawthorne Park in Cicero. Then went on to play in leagues that had better teams like Kelly Park, Janura Park in Berwyn, and LaGrange Park. We won every league we played in at least once, except for the TV league in Forest Park. We played in our first ASA ‘A’ tourney in 1989 and came in 3rd, we won it in 1990. In 1991 they came in 8th at the ASA Major. Back to ‘A’ in ’92 and came in 3rd again. We won USSSA ’A’ and ’Major’ titles as well. Although we lost some players and added others, our nucleus was from the Cicero area and lead by Oscar Dominguez.
