BOOMTOWN

Organized in 1982 by Don Kustok, Boomtown began as a tight-knit group of friends and athletes hailing from Oak Lawn. For over 16 years, Boomtown played in many leagues, including those in Palos Hills, Chicago Ridge, Blue Island/Cal Park Major League and earning titles. In 1998, for many it was time to retire to raise families. However, a core group continued playing successfully as Jelly in class A and Major ball under Pat Doody. Boomtown came back for an encore in 2012 as Boomtown and Sons and won a championship with our kids in Oak Lawn which was quite a thrill.  They competed in tournaments in Blue Island, Mt Greenwood, Mt. Prospect, Clyde Park, to Grant Park and more. Boomtown triumphed in the USSA Rec State Tournament and earned second place in the USSA State Tournament and 2nd place in the Coors Light 32 Team Chicagoland Tournament and won the St.Patrick’s Day Mt. Greenwood Tournament and Berwyn tournament. On the national stage, Boomtown qualified for and participated in four Class “A” National tournaments. The journey was tremendous, and the stories are endless. A legacy of friends, competitiveness and fun.
