Kathy started playing 16-inch softball in the summer of 1984 in Bellwood / Hillside, Illinois with high school friends on the Jynx team. After moving to Berwyn, she played with the Tappers, Banshees and Phillies, which helped her sharpen her skills. Eventually, she helped organize and play on Break-A-Ways, which became one of the top Chicago women’s teams, winning many ASA, USSSA and NSA tournaments from 1989-2000.
During this time, Kathy won numerous awards, including 1993 USSSA State Best Offense Player, 1994 USSSA State All-Tournament Team, 1995 Most Valuable Player, 2002 USSSA All-State Team and 2002 NSA All-State Team, all while playing on the Break-A-Ways.
Kathy also helped organize and played on the Juicers Co-Ed 16-inch softball team that won local leagues in Grant, Wentworth and many other parks. In fact, the Juicers won the Grant Park Tournament 9 years in a row!
In 2010, Kathy retired after 37 years of play at Short-Center, First, Second, Third, Pitcher and Shortstop.
