SNAPPERS

Many Snappers got their first taste of 16” softball at Rosemont Elementary School, competing against other local suburban middle schools. The Snappers team started out with local kids that grew up together watching teams like the Bombers and Rippers playing in the Rosemont Park District Men’s 16” Softball League. After some convincing, Jerry Domico Jr and a few of his friends formed a team and started playing at that same park, in that same league in 1995. The Snappers dominated the Rosemont softball league taking first place for several years and won the Championship in years 1998, 1999, 2002 and 2004. In 2001 the Snappers joined the Mt. Prospect “A” house league. That first year they split the league championship and competed in their first National tournament in Aberdeen, South Dakota. It was a great first run at Nationals with the team finishing 2-2. The following year, the Snappers moved up to the Classic league at Mt. Prospect and continued playing there through 2005. For the next few years, the team played in several park district leagues around the area and returned to the Mt. Prospect Classic league in 2013. The Snappers won 4 Division Championships at Mt. Prospect playing there until the league folded in 2019. Jerry Domico Jr chose the Schaumburg Classic League to keep the Snappers together. The team has recently been competing in the Melrose Park League. Among their many accolades the Snappers have been invited and played in the Forest Park “No Glove” Nationals 5 times, with 4 of those being in the past decade. The Snappers have been playing for twenty-five plus years with the same core group of guys, displaying integrity, and they’ve accomplished so much in that time.
