Eddie Curry

Eddie has been the standard and the model for the city of Chicago and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) for over 30 years. As a mentor, community activist, or servant leader, Eddie continues to be an essential part of the foundation and success that is the CPS. For the last 24 years, Eddie has organized a boys 16-inch softball league and tournament play for the CPS. Each year teams are in playoff competition for the City of Chicago Championship game. Eddie also paid for all the umpires for the 40 participating teams, created a trophy for the champions, selected the locations for the Final Games. As a prep, Eddie attended Englewood High School. As a 4 year letterman at Jackson State, Curry would garner individual honors and team accomplishments. He was drafted by the Astros in 1977. Unfortunately, Eddie’s professional pitching career would be cut short due to injury. His love for education and athletics has provided a fire inside to help young people of all backgrounds and if possible help them reach their full potential and dreams.
