William Coleman

William was an outstanding pitcher that started playing softball at the age of 10 on the concrete at Raymond Elementary in 1969. Then with the Matador Pro’s in 1970 until the team broke up in 1982. He joined the big leagues in 1983 with the Unknown Wild Bunch, they began their rise in local leagues and tournaments. In 1983 with Coach Arthur Cooper they were the first team to win the Black World Series held in Comiskey Park. In 1981 with the breakup of the Gypsy Stars the team grew even stronger and played in the Cocktail Lounge League and 75th Street Tournament. In 1990 he joined Inductee coach James Holmes and the LA Posse playing at Clyde Park, Mount Prospect and all the no gloves tournaments sponsored by Budweiser Beer. He also played for teams like Kings, Gladiators, Busting Loose, Heatwave, WS Wrecking Crew, Untouchables, Patio Players, Rolling Dice, Stella Angels and Unleashed. Along with the Postal and AT&T organizations until his retirement in 2014.
